Adam Green > new album > mp3

Move side to side and clap. Now put your left foot foward and back in. Okay you got it! You're doing the "Castles and Tassels" dance. Adam Green had set his sights high with the ambitious Friends of Mine in 2003, and then killed hopes of becoming the next Burt Bacharach with the dreadful follow-up Gemstones (remember "Choke on a Cock", anyone?). Okay, so "No Legs" from Friends wasn't short on eyebrow-raising either. Already Green's sixth solo album, Minor Love (out next week), at least proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that he's prolific as hell. "Castles and Tassels" joins the best of both of Green's musical worlds, featuring his deceptively playful baritone and a twangy bass. -Kenyon

Lymbyc Systym : new track + album

Mush records is gonna blop the next full-length from Lymbyc System (Jared and Michael Bell) on November 3, 2009. Very futuristic. The first cut made public from new album Shutter Release follows their previous magical instrumental indie rock. The duo is living separately in Brooklyn and Austin, but are on tour this month with the Books. Shutter Release was mixed by John Congleton (Modest Mouse, St. Vincent, Explosions in the Sky) and if you've never heard of Lymbyc Systym before and need more credentials, they've toured with Broken Social Scene, Crystal Castles, The Album Leaf and Her Space Holiday. -Kenyon

Bottle Up & Go [Brooklyn/Connecticut, Kill Normal records] - Guitar and drums duo that manufactures the ghost of Jimi Hendrix with the skills of the White Stripes and a knowing heritage of old time depression blues. "Wayward Son" MP3 [not to be confused with the 70s song by Kansas].
-------

Wrongkong - [Canada/Germany, Minty Fresh records] - Lays happily between the d.a.n.c.e of Justice and the female-lead swaggering of Shiny Toy Guns. "Real Boy" MP3 [Strike Boys remix]

Cannonball Jane [Connecticut] One-girl force Sharon Hagopian is cool enough being an elementary school music teacher just over the Long Island Sound from me. As CJ, she loves to mash hip-hop beats, samples and sweet vocals. Already, she earns my jealousy for going out there with the Go!Team and Le Tigre among others. Hogopian's Knees Up! EP is so hip it's wearing argyle socks.

Broken Letters [Alabama]

The name makes total sense. i searched for Broken Letters on wiki-wiki-peedy and it redirected to the concept of text in the Qur'an. Songs from the upcoming Sing the Burning Alphabet absolutely radiate with religion. The solemn folk-rock lead by David Hickox and Brad Davis begs for comparisons to Iron and Wine and Two Gallants.

girl you know it's NEW
White Shoes & the Couples Company --"Tentang Cita"

the band has signed with Minty Fresh and Rolling Stone has named them one of the "Top 25 Bands on MySpace". I don't know how they managed to figure that out considering there's like 1.5 million bands on MySpace. Therefore, advance copy is calling them one of the top indie pop bands from Indonesia.

Erasure - "I Could Fall in Love With You ’’ from Light at the End of the World, out May 22 on Mute. at this point anything is better than that covers record they did a few years ago. For a duo that still sounds very 1980s (this could have been on a few of their old albums, though it's a little slicker), "I Could Fall" has a warm fresh feeling.
