Seinking Ships features first vocals from Lush's Miki Berenyi in like ten years.

Mainly instrumental project Seinking Ships is Eric Matthews (ex-Cardinal and at one time signed to Subpop) and Christopher Seink. They convinced 1990s dreampop queen Miki Berenyi to add some vocals and as a result we have "You Didn't Love Me," from the upcoming S-Curve records release Museum Quality Capture. Her soft, enchanting voice always provides solace. -Kenyon

Thrill Jockey records> new artist

It is time to give some big big LOVE to Thrill Jockey, cause they've been a big part of the indie music circuit for years now. TJ has supported all kinds of post-rock artists such as Tortoise, Mouse on Mars and Oval. Thrill's latest addition is Lazer Crystal from Chicago. Yes another band with "crystal," can you believe this? The first full album MCMLXXX (1980) just hit the world last week and the band just hit Europe for tour.

"Love Rhombus" - [mp3] - features afterhours electro glossed with a sleepy lead vocal and a youth group vocal hook resembling "Cry Little Sister" from Lost Boys. Some of their other stuff sounds like Joy Division underwater. -Kenyon

into>>the>>future
Norman

The country-folk-rock from this Portland, Oregon band bears striking resemblance to My Morning Jacket on these two songs from their upcoming Hay, Hay, Make A Wish and Turn Away (out May 18, 2010 on Timber Carnival records). "Hell, If I Love" has a big country rock vibration that can fill a large space, while "No Clouds" rides a horse with no name through shuffling percussion and robust harmonies. -Kenyon

The Radio Dept > new track > album out April 20

"Never Follow Suit" - [mp3]

Following acclaim and contributions to Sophia Coppola's Marie Antoinette, the Swedish groop applies a dub reggae foundation for "Never Follow Suit," while the soft vocals and rich tapestry of sound is reminiscent of the Marr/Sumner project Electronic. Next album, Clinging to a Scheme, is out April 20 on Labrador/Caroline. -Kenyon

MGMT >> new song!
"Flash Delirium" from upcoming album Congratulations, out April 13, 2010.
Dang, what a tripped out bizarro mess. That flute (?) in the middle of it all is more awkward than a cow walking into a vegetarian restaurant. Even though the cow isn't gonna eat meat either, it's still awkward. MGMT has stated that they are not issuing any "singles" and we need to listen to the entire album, as a whole. i don't know if that will help me digest this any easier. -Kenyon

The Megaphonic Thrift >> super sonic new band from Norway. They are so new they aren’t even on wikipedia. The interweaving, swirling guitars in “Exploding Eyes” and “Acid Blues” calls for a band that is the starchild of Flaming Lips, Uncut and Sonic Youth. Coming to NYC and then at SXSW. This video for "Acid Blues" rules like there's no tomorrow. It's doing that thing with televisions previously made cool in Asia's "Only Time will Tell." --Kenyon

The Megaphonic Thrift in NYC:
3/14 @ Littlefield - Scandinavian Day Party
3/15 @ Santos Party House - Oya/Oh My Rockness w/The Depreciation Guild, Pirate Love, Hanne Hukkelberg

Soundpool >>> new track

"But It's So" - listen here.

Post-shoegaze ambient dance with a canonball of cosmic sounds, including one you will recognize from the Ting Ting's "Great DJ." "But It's So" will be on the upcoming album Mirrors In Your Eyes, the New York groop's third full-length album, expected soon on Killer Pimp records. Track is also on a limited 7" out later this month. -Kenyon

You Say Party! We Say Die! >> new tunes

The latest from the radically named You Say Party! is miles away from 2006's rebelious hyperactive song "The Gap." Two new tracks available from the album XXXX are like Cat Power fronting the Yeah Yeah Yeahs with the post-punk mood of Siouxsie and the Banshees. Yes, cause it's a girl singing. These tracks are as hot as those girls in the band. The Canadian group's third album is present in the U.S.A from Paper Bag records in February 2010, though it's already tops in Canada. -Kenyon

"There Is XXXX (Within My Heart)" and "Dark Days" are HERE.

The Bravery > new tunes

Stir the Blood, the third album from the Bravery is out December 1, 2009. This is an unusual release date, seeing as how proper albums never come out between Thanksgiving and New Year's Day. But now that we got mp3s and junk, who cares?! The gloomy second single "The Spectator, " which follows the teaser "Slow Poison," is subdued compared to the rocking first album (one of the most underrated of 2005) and more fascinating than the sophomore slumping The Sun and the Moon. "The Spectator" is also on the soundtrack for Vampire Diaries (apparently another vampire-themed TV show). And that DROPS today. DROPS. The point is, so far Stir the Blood is wicked. -Kenyon

The Sky Drops - "Stone White"
Taken from their summer 2009 debut full length release, guitarist Rob Montejo (formerly of Smashing Orange, who were a lesser-known, American shoegaze/dreampop band in the 1990s) and drummer Monika Bullette channel the moods of early BJM, Dirty on Purpose and Yo La Tengo. The video is clips from the Prelinger Archives (you know, those old misguided educational films). Sky Drops so far have had dates with Cold War Kids, Chairlift, The Dirty Projectors and A Place to Bury Strangers. -Kenyon

Sam Champion. The name sounded familiar. Sam Champion is a weatherman on TV. Sam Champion the band is from New York. Sam Champion that's on TV is gonna be pissed. It took days for him to come up with that name. As for this indie rock band, "Like a Secret" is bound to receive comparisons to Pavement and--not just cause of the song title--Built to Spill. Their second album, Heavenly Bender, was released a few days ago via North Street. www.myspace.com/samchampion

new audio + video.
The Streets - "The Escapist." From Everything is Borrowed, out September 15, 2008. The first single off the fourth album from the Streets displays the soul-searching side of Mike Skinner, while again blending hip-hop and smooth R&B.

Lismore - "I'm Ready, Come Get Me." Absorbing the cold electro of Adult and the brashness of Shiny Toy Guns, "I'm Ready" unfolds from the most minimal of electro to a hot club track. [Mp3]
-----
The Hush Now - "Traditions." After a near death experience, Noel Kelly [ex-Cerulean] moved to, naturally, Portland. Now he's in Boston for the Hush Now's gentle jangle indie rock which is clearly not shoegaze. Debut album in October. [Mp3]
-----
Wrapping Paper - "Hold Up the Neon Sign" = joy to the world.
-----
Ponytail - for people that are sick of Deerhoof. Ponytail is taking it to the next level of wild indie art spunk.
-----
Return to Sender - [insert witty comment here about them being from Utah] - not a great band name and the vocals on the other tracks don't do what they should, but the post-rock of "88" stands out for being a tripped-out instrumental.

effin hot new audio + video.

new Verve song from upcoming album + official track list.

The Verve's new single, "Love Is Noise" is at their myspace. Upcoming album Forth is out August 19 via their own imprint On Our Own (brilliant!) distributed via Megaforce/MRI. "Love is Noise" was heard at the band's reunion tour dates, printed on the set list as "Disco." It had some electronic disco in it along with a killer background vocal loop which basically ruled. Most importantly, the song is not a slow ballad with acoustic guitar.

Official Tracklisting:
1. Sit and Wonder 2. Love Is Noise 3. Rather Be 4. Judas 5. Numbness 6. I See Houses 7. Noise Epic 8. Valium Skies 9. Columbo 10. Appalachian Springs
